“I had a dream…”
The La Vernia Municipal Development District will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. day on Monday, January 16, 2017. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday.
The City received an email from Santa’s elf this morning. He informed them, that due to technical difficulties with his weather monitoring system and GPS, Santa’s sleigh is in the shop. Santa will not be able to make it to La Vernia on Wednesday, December 7th . He must stay at the North Pole to make sure his sleigh is up and running and in tip-top shape by Christmas Eve.
So, unfortunately, with Santa’s sleigh being in the shop, Santa not able to come and with all the rain and bad weather La Vernia has had this past weekend (which has left the park a pond and muddy mess), the City officials have reluctantly decided to cancel the Spirit of Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and all the festivities that go with it.
There will be a short and sweet ceremony with the Boy Scouts on Tuesday, December 6th at 6:30 p.m. just to light the tree. You are welcome to attend, but please note, there will be no other activities. Bring your rain boots if you come, its wet and muddy.
